CA trip

I took a long weekend and went out to visit my dear friend in California.
Perhaps it's a tradition in the making, but for the second time in a row, we head off to Napa :)

It was a gloomy day, but good win nevertheless. I brought my big-ass camera out for the first time in a long time, and went a little snappy crazy. Here are some pictures.


One of the places we went to had great landscaping, so I would take a sip of my cap and go outside to take pictures of some flowers:)

The weekend wrapped up with some nice time just sitting and admiring the beauty of CA.

Improvements

My friend came up from DC this weekend and helped me paint and decorate a lot! First we painted one wall red, then we added stripes to my happy yellow hallway.

Then she helped me make panels to hang on the walls in the hallway.

She also help me cut fabric out for these and helped me moved my headboard.

Last, we also decided to hang this thing I got on the red wall to counterbalance the overpowering effect of the wall.

Chicago

Last weekend I went to Chicago for a friend's wedding. The wedding was on

Improvements

I got the fabric to make the shower curtain. After sewing the buttonholes on top, I thought it was too plain, so I added some green beads. Still a bit plain I think, but for now, it'll do, since I am too lazy to make another one right now. While I was at it, I also made a cover for the door :)

Here is the new table and chairs I bought from craigslist. I am not loving the chair pads, but for now, i'll keep them on.

furniture rearrangement

I rearranged my furniture and created a reading nook using a chair and the new lamp i got. In the process of cleaning, I also found a place for me to put my laptop. Now all i need to make is a foot stool for my feet!

Dollar skirts

Mark and I went to a flea market last weekend near our house. Of course, I picked up some vintage pillowcases for 50 cents each to satisfy my fabric obsession. A few nights ago, I made them into simple skirts!

One of them is a drawstring skirt, the other has an elastic waist. I added some ribbons.

UWS street

I went to a BBQ today on the upper west side. Here are some pictures I took when I was walking there.

Happy hallway and more bathroom pictures

I asked my contractor to paint the hall leading to the bedroom and the bathroom using the left over paint from the bathroom. It makes the hall way very happy looking!



I haven't moved back into my bathroom yet :) I am going to hang the shower curtain and unpack soon.

Pretty bathroom

So my bathroom is 99% done. Just need a new door, which should be done today and hang up the shower curtain!

as you can kind of see- I chose yellow for the remaining walls:)

Pretty tree

Last weekend I went home and took some pictures of the tree where I took the branches from. The tree was in full bloom.

Plants

I went to the farmer's market at Union Square today and picked out three plants for my apartment. Then I went to home depot to pick up colorful pots to put them in. I put them on the window sill and then realized that my windows are dirty... so I cleaned the windows too :) If I might brag a minute- the cleaning was very green! (Vinegar, water and a drop of dish soap). I squeegee the windows dry then buff with newspaper- one of them was done so well, i kept thinking that i left the window open!!!!

Productive Weekend

This weekend I volunteered on Saturday and on Sunday I made yummy cupcakes. Dad, I know you like coconuts, i'll make you some when you come back.

Tonight, I made two IHR bags. I didn't make the flowers, I had them lying around.
